20 Signature Journey Candidates

These are the strongest corpus-level pathways selected from the 178 observed journeys using only transparent structural criteria: publication volume, temporal span, journal diversity and recent activity.

Selection ≠ validation. A high signature score only says a pathway is prominent in the current corpus. It does not prove scientific importance, institutional ownership, or capability until representative evidence is reviewed.
Colleague Beta boundary: publication counts and source-derived classifications are working research data. “Observed”, “candidate”, “reviewed”, and “validated” are intentionally different states. A corpus pattern is not automatically an institutional capability or scientific conclusion.

Why this matters

Institutional memory

Prominent multi-year patterns become easier to see than by reading papers one at a time.

Capability evidence

Journeys provide candidate trunks; Reference Passports can test whether the trunk deserves capability status.

Future questions

Only after evidence review should a strong pathway be used to formulate future research questions.

Museum candidates

Mature signature journeys can later become exhibits showing how CIDM knowledge evolved through time.
